Coucou Germaine

Coucou Germaine was born from an obsession with 20th century objects: from 1930s Bauhaus to 1980s Memphis design, by way of everything mid-century produced that was beautiful, strange, and built to last. I look for pieces that were thought out, designed, and made with intention. Objects that stood the test of time because they deserved to.

Coucou Germaine's ambition is to share this quest for the rare find and give it a new chapter. It's a space to channel a compulsive thrifting habit, a kind of hotline between the history of design and our contemporary interiors. Coucou Germaine lets me give a voice to these objects, one story at a time.

The finds

Over the years, I've had the chance to get my hands on pieces by major 20th-century and modern design figures, including Mathieu Matégot, Verner Panton, Vico Magistretti, Carlo Bartoli and Gerd Lange, as well as pieces by houses like Vitra, Cassina, Thonet, Casala, Fog & Mørup or Cini & Nils.

My collection brings together vintage furniture, lighting, art and decorative objects, plus a few accessories that stand out from the ordinary. Each piece is chosen for its authenticity, craftsmanship, historical significance and timeless look, with close attention paid to its original condition and integrity.

I don't stick to one era, or to big names. It spans the 1930s to the late 1990s and 2000s, and it's as much about a designer chair as it is about an Indian film poster. At the end of the day, I'm not chasing names, I'm chasing beautiful things with a story to tell. It's often in these more unusual finds that I get the most pleasure.

The result is a collection that's always changing, built for Brussels locals looking for a piece with some history behind it, and shipped across Europe for collectors and curious minds who, like me, just love beautiful things.
